ROGERS VIDEO OPENS ITS FIRST STORE IN MONTREAL!

Montreal, Quebec, April 17, 2004 — After months of preparation, Rogers Video has opened its first Quebec store in Ville LaSalle. This 5,000 square foot store features home entertainment software, including more than 8,000 movies and video games for rental and for sale. The store also showcases an impressive selection of cellular and data products from Rogers Wireless. Confectionary items along with home entertainment and communications accessories are also featured. Each store represents approximately 15 new jobs to the Quebec marketplace.

The Ville LaSalle store is the first of 10 new stores that Rogers Video plans to open in Quebec in 2004. This is a key part of an ambitious business plan for expansion of the Rogers Video network across the country. The new store expansion will initially focus on the greater Montreal market and will generate approximately 150 new jobs in 2004 and several hundred more in the coming years.

“Today’s opening of our first store in Quebec is the realization of a visionary plan that has been in the works for some time”, said Rogers Video president and CEO, Chuck van der Lee. “We are delighted that we are now able to bring our home entertainment experience to the Quebec marketplace. While we may be the new kid on the block, we aren’t newcomers when it comes to providing consumers with a broad range of home entertainment products and the comprehensive customer service that goes along with it.”

Appropriately, the Ville LaSalle Grand Opening featured a movie-set theme that included a display of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. This movie, which is one of the year’s Best Picture nominees, will be released on video and DVD on Tuesday, April 20. A 53-foot “Sony PlayStation 2” transporter also drew considerable attention from the hundreds of people that streamed through the new store during the Grand Opening.

Jean Rickli, vice-president and general manager for Quebec and the Atlantic Region, said the arrival of Rogers Video is an expression of confidence in the Quebec market as well as in the home entertainment industry. He added that in setting up its new stores and core offerings, Rogers Video is striving to respond to what Quebec consumers have said they are seeking in home entertainment.

“Quebec consumers have a tremendous passion for films of all genres, whether they are Quebec, Canadian, Hollywood or international film productions,” remarked Mr. Rickli. “We have tried to be very conscious of this in creating our entertainment experience. We also take considerable pride in the staff that we assemble to operate each of our stores. Without exception they are extremely knowledgeable and affable, and they share a passion for films, video games and the other products that we offer to our customers”.

Based in Richmond, British Columbia, Rogers Video is the largest Canadian owned specialty video retailer and the fifth largest video retailer in North America. Founded in 1988, Rogers Video currently owns and operates more than 280 home entertainment stores throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and the Yukon, with more than 4,000 employees nationwide.
