Quote from a member of the organizing committee
Mr. Patrick, who is a John Molson MBA student and the sponsorship
coordinator, likens the organizing experience to running a
business. “What many people don’t realize is that
this event is fully funded by corporate sponsorship and has
a budget of over $200,000. Myself and the other three organizers
report to a Board of Directors who act as advisors to us,
much in the same way as a real corporation. It truly is a
unique, real world experience.” Some of this year’s
major sponsors of the event include: Scotiabank, EDC, Pratt
& Whitney, Bell Canada, RBC, and Pfizer.

Quote from the Dean
“A competition of this magnitude demands superior qualitative
and quantitative business skills. Once you have organized
a competition that comprises 32 international business schools
and over 250 senior executives, you have the experience and
confidence to undertake just about anything.” said Jerry
Tomberlin, Dean, John Molson School of Business. “ We
are so very proud of our case competition organizers and of
the team that represents our school.” he went on to
say. “By organizing and competing in such a world-class
competition, John Molson MBA students get a chance to really
shine and help advance our reputation internationally as a
leading business school.” |

Quote from the Associate Dean
“Juggling the heavy commitments with the competition
and a demanding MBA courseload is no easy task” said
Dr. Michel Magnan, Associate Dean, External. “But these
people know how to take the ball and run with it. Organizing
a case competition of this magnitude, that is truly international,
showcases our student’s ability to think on their feet.
The synergy of the organizing committee’s expertise
as well as the skills that they have developed through their
training in the John Molson MBA Program makes for a dynamic,
professional event that furthers our reputation as a leading
business school,” he added. |

Quote from a participant
“For me, it was the most challenging, rewarding, demanding,
exhilarating, intense week of my MBA career. The experience
allowed me to work closely with bright, committed professionals
towards the goal of creating the most feasible solution for
the cases we were given. During the competition, I honed my
analytical skills, which helped immensely in interviewing
for consulting positions. The intensity of the experience
developed my time management, communications, and presentation
skills to a higher level. Our team overcame losses early in
the competition to come back and place second. This taught
us all humility, perseverance and determination.” |

“The John Molson MBA International Case Competition
is truly a unique event”, says Senior Judge Norman Raschkowan,
also Chairman of the Competition’s Advisory Board. “It
is difficult to find a medium that brings together the academic
and business worlds. Students apply the theory they learn
from their MBA programs into current business issues and are
judged by executives with extensive corporate experience.
This experience ultimately enriches students and executives
alike.”
